What are Class A motorhomes?
Class A motor homes are large and typically have more complex systems, including the engine and chassis. Typically, either gas or diesel powered engines are primarily located in the back. Though, some class A motorhomes will have engines in the front. Depending on the manufacturer, class A motorhomes can be designed and configured as budget friendly entry level motorhomes to large opulent coaches.

Inspecting Class A motorhomes
Having an independent and certified RV inspector go through a class A motorhome before you purchase or take delivery of the motorhome is especially important. Not only is the inspector looking for visible defects, but also defects that may not be as apparent. Since class A motorhomes tend to be larger, they are often more expensive to fix and repair. For example, replacing a refrigerator on a Class A motorhome can require the removal of the front windshield to take the refrigerator out of the motorhome and install a new one. Not only does this add to the expense of the repair, but it adds additional time you are not able to use the coach.
At RV P. I. we have additional training, specific to large class A motorhomes. Having this additional training and certification means we can inspect these large motorhomes and their chassis utilizing training from the chassis factory. If you are purchasing a coach built by Entegra, Newmar, Foretravel, or Jayco it likely has a Spartan chassis, for which we have been specifically trained and certified through Spartan Chassis.

To help with preparation we will provide a guide for both the buyer and seller, which lists items that need to be prepared ahead of the inspection. It is also important to remember these are large and complex vehicles. It is common for our inspections to last a minimum of eight hours and upwards of ten hours. It is important for us to start the inspection as early as possible.
